The Severn Trent Environmental Protection Scheme (STEPS) provides grants up to £5,000 for infrastructure improvement and land management changes for farmers situated within the Severn Trent Target Areas.

STEPS has been specifically designed to protect and improve watercourses as well as the wider environment by supporting infrastructure improvements which are above and beyond good agricultural practice.

There are over 35 items which Severn Trent will support including:

  • Watercourse fencing
  • Concrete
  • Precision farming equipment e.g. GPS
  • Nutrient management equipment
  • Livestock drinking troughs
  • Water supply pipe
  • Pesticide sprayer wash down/handling area
  • Roofs for existing slurry stores
  • Floating cover for existing slurry stores

A wide range of options are available that will suit both arable and grass based systems. The amount of the grant is based on a standard cost for each item up to a maximum of £5,000.

The deadline for applications is the 31st January 2019. All applications will be scored and offers made within 6 weeks of submission if successful you then have until March 2020 to complete all of the works.
