Countryside Stewardship

Priorities Deadline Funding 
Financial incentives to help farmers protect wildlife, create new habitats and reduce flood risk.

You can apply for either:

It has been announced that all farms will have access to the Catchment Sensitive Farming by March 2023

Capital items capped at:

  • Boundaries, trees and orchards – £50,000
  • Water & air quality – £120,000

Countryside Stewardship Capital Grants

Funding towards items benefiting the environment, 3 areas of funding:

  • Boundaries, trees and orchards
  • Water quality
  • Air quality

It has been announced that all farms will have access to the Catchment Sensitive Farming by March 2023

Each option has a payment rate. A maximum grant is capped at £20,000 for each area (£60,000 total).

Sustainable Farming Incentive

Priorities Deadline Funding 
Reward environmentally sustainable land management actions that all farmers can do.

Currently undergoing pilot scheme with further information to be released following consultation

  • Open for all BPS recipients in 2022

Woodland Creation and Maintenance

Funding for planting and maintaining new woodlands. Minimum area of woodland planting is 3 ha.

Severn Trent Environmental Protection Scheme (STEPS)
