We are pleased to have successfully secured a Certificate of Lawfulness for an established equestrian business. The application under Section 191 confirmed the lawful use of the land and buildings for commercial equestrian purposes, including livery and associated equestrian activities.

We prepared a comprehensive report accompanied by detailed evidence and supporting statement to demonstrate that the equestrian use had been operating continuously for the required 10 year period.

Following a review, Forest of Dean Local Planning Authority approved the application and confirmed the commercial equestrian use is lawful. A Certificate of Lawfulness provides formal confirmation that an existing use is lawful in planning terms. This helps protect the business from potential enforcement action and provides certainty for the future, allowing the operation to continue and thrive now that the equestrian use has been formally regularised.

We regularly assist clients with Certificates of Lawfulness for rural, agricultural and equestrian properties. If you would like advice on an existing use or planning matter, please contact Sam Carter or Alex Stafford-Clark on 01684 853400 or email enquiries@carverknowles.co.uk
