Carver Knowles at delighted to support the Pershore and Upton upon Severn Branch of the NFU for their annual conference at Pershore College on Thursday 18th January 2018 at 7.30pm.

 

The annual conference, organised by NFU group secretary Ray Foster-Morrison, has a host of quality speakers to discuss and debate the theme of ” Embracing Brexit”. The theme of this year’s conference is to provoke a debate on how the panel plan to embrace whatever Brexit brings and how they think you can make the best of the opportunities to develop your business.

Sir Peter Kendall conference speaker

Sir Peter Kendall will be the first speaker of the evening. As the chairman of the Agricultural and Horticultural Development Board he plays a key role in the response of the agricultural sector during the Brexit negotiations and beyond.

Ciara Gorst - Co-op Head of agriculture and conference speaker

Sir Kendall will be followed by Ciara Gorst the Head of Agriculture at the Co-op.  Ciara leads a dedicated team of food and farming specialists to ensure the retailers long standing commitment to supporting British agriculture is upheld. Ciara has been a key stakeholder in a three year programme investing £1.5bn in British agriculture making the Co-op the first retailer to sell 100% own brand British beef, chicken, pork, lamb, bacon and turkey.

Ali Capper NFU conference speaker

Ali Capper the NFU National Horticulture Chair will follow Ciara. Ali who farms locally in Worcestershire has a job on her hands to persuade the Government that without a seasonal labour scheme horticulture will not be able to thrive as it has done to date.

Phil Stocker - conference speaker

The final main speaker is Phil Stocker the Chief Executive Officer of the National Sheep Association. With over 30 years experience in farming Phil has lead the NSA for the last 6 years playing a leading role in the UK sheep industry and expanding the NSA established activities into areas of research and knowledge transfer.

 

The meeting will be concluded with questions from the floor hosted by the conference Chairman Clive Davies.

 

Following the meeting drinks will be served to allow further discussion with the speakers and the sponsors of the event.
