The pathway to grant funding is often a bit of a minefield with different schemes for different projects with a range of criteria and deadline dates. The LEADER Grant offers funding of £2,000 to £50,000 (40% of the overall project cost) for agricultural equipment that will make your farm more efficient and improve animal husbandry such as direct drills, automatic palletiser, irrigation boom, cattle crush etc. It can also help with farm diversification such as glamping and wedding venue.
Countryside Productivity is aim specifically at water and forestry. There is a range of forestry equipment available such as log splitters, timber trailers, wood chipper and woodchip stores. Within the water element funding can include construction of water storage reservoirs, abstraction pumps, and water metering equipment. Minimum funding of £35,000 makes it perfect for large scale projects.
Countryside Stewardship Scheme is a land based project in which you can get paid to for having specific options on your land such as low input grassland, over winter stubble, buffer strips and hedgerows. Within this scheme there is also scope to get capital items such as hedgerows, fences, water troughs and concrete.
The Rural Development Programme is for large scale projects which can include expanding existing business or new business such as holiday let, glamping sites and wedding venues. Please see our case study on Broadway Tower for more information. Funding can range from £35,000 to £170,000 based on 40% of the overall project cost.
