Countryside Stewardship

Priorities Deadline Funding 
Financial incentives to help farmers protect wildlife, create new habitats and reduce flood risk.

You can apply for either:

Catchment Sensitive Farming endorsement available to all farms in high or medium priority areas

  • Open
  • Window for Wildlife Offer and Mid-Tier applications closes 18th August 2023
Unlimited funding for capital items.

Some items require Catchment Sensitive Farming endorsement.

Countryside Stewardship Capital Grants

Priorities Deadline Funding 
Funding towards items benefiting the environment, 4 areas of funding:

  • Boundaries, trees and orchards
  • Water quality
  • Air quality
  • Natural Flood Management

Catchment Sensitive Farming endorsement available to all farms in high or medium priority areas

  • Open all year round
  • RPA may withdraw grant depending on uptake (6 weeks notice given prior to withdrawal)
Unlimited funding for capital items.

Some items require Catchment Sensitive Farming endorsement.

Sustainable Farming Incentive

Priorities Deadline Funding 
Reward environmentally sustainable land management actions that all farmers can do.

Three standards currently available 

Six new standards opening Summer 2023

  • Open for all BPS recipients in 2022
  • Expands to all farmers in 2024
Arable and Horticultural Soils Standard Introductory level – £22 / ha      Intermediate level – £40 / ha

Improved Grassland Soils Standard Introductory level – £28 / ha      Intermediate level – £58 / ha

England Woodland Creation Offer

Priorities Deadline Funding 
Funding for planting and maintaining new woodlands. Minimum area of woodland planting is 1 ha.
  •  Open all year round. Criteria based competitive scheme
Up to £13,000 / ha

Severn Trent Environmental Protection Scheme (STEPS)

Priorities Deadline Funding 
Grants available for capital investment that protects water quality and enhances biodiversity on farms.

Up to £30,000

Farming Investment Fund

The Farming Investment Fund provides grants to improve productivity and bring environmental benefits. It is made up of 2 separate funds:

  • Farming Equipment and Technology Fund
  • Farming Transformation Fund
Priorities Deadline Funding 
The Farming Equipment and Technology Fund is split into two themes;

Productivity and Slurry items

Animal Health and Welfare Items

  • Productivity and Slurry theme open until 4th April 2023
  • Animal Health and Welfare theme open until 15th June 2023
Up to £50,000

Between £1,000 – £25,000 for each theme

 

Priorities Deadline Funding 
The Farming Transformation Fund provides grants towards large capital items to help businesses improve productivity, profitability, and environmental sustainability. It is split into 4 grants;

  • Slurry Infrastructure grant
  • Adding Value grant
  • Water management
  • Improving Farm Productivity
  • Closed
